COVID Update re: Kiteboarding & Sailing Lessons & Demos.
Hello and thank you to our customers for being patient while we wait for provincial restrictions to ease so we may resume activities as directed. We take the safety of our customers and our responsibility in the community very seriously and will never intentionally violate any of the guidelines imposed. Based on the announcement by the Premier of Ontario on June 8, 2020, we can safely resume kiteboarding & sailing lessons and demos with restrictions as of Friday June 12, 2020. The province has allowed for sports training and other personal services however we may from time to time need to be closer than 2m for safety reasons. Therefore, we will not be conducting lessons or demos to anyone who is experiencing flu like symptoms. This same rule will apply to our instructors and facilitators and we will not teach or conduct demos if we are experiencing any symptoms. I myself check my temperature 2-3 times per day to make sure I identify symptoms right away and self isolate should I have any. Also, we will endeavor to wear PPE wherever it is possible and safe to do so and we encourage participants to do the same, however some forms of PPE may not be feasible. For example, wearing a mask in the water could result in a wet mask making breathing difficult or impossible to do so and resulting in an unsafe situation, therefore masks may not be worn or may be removed as needed when in the water or under certain conditions. This is why we must insist on participants not displaying any symptoms. We also want participants to be aware of this before hand so they can choose not to engage in any activities, lessons or demos where face masks may not be worn or their efficacy may be compromised. Furthermore, these activities will be limited to locations where they are allowed. Some regions have stronger restrictions that may prevent these activities so we will only teach and demo where it is permitted and in such a way that complies with local and regional rules as well as provincial guidelines. We will be sending out emails to those on our waiting list but if anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Also if someone feels we have misinterpreted any part of the directive please let us know and we will adjust our strategy to make sure we are in full compliance with the law. As always we will operate within the confines of the law and do our part as responsible citizens of this city, province and country. Thank you to everyone who has also conducted themselves patiently and responsibly as we look forward to getting back to enjoying these special activities that are so enriching to our minds, bodies and souls.
