XCAT keeps garnering accolades and is one of the hottest selling day sailors in the world. Aside form being a great sailboat it features two different types of rowing systems. The first is called RowMotion which is just like a traditional rear facing scull. The second is called RowVista and is the only one of its kind in the world that lets you face forward while still maintaining the supple feathering action of advanced rowing sculls. So if the wind dies or there is no wind you can still have fun while being on the water. The XCAT also allows for a motor to be mounted so you have a backup propulsion system while sailing thus allowing you to push harder and farther with the added safety assurance of knowing you can get back to shore should something go wrong. Best of all the XCAT is completely portable. It easily and quickly disassembles and is car toppable. Assembly takes less than 30 minutes and can be done by one person! It's no wonder the XCAT is drowning in heaps of praise!
Mystic Point Water Sports is Canada's source for modern, advanced and highly portable sailboats and water sports adventure gear. Besides XCAT we also carry MiniCat and Tiwal Inflatable/portable sailboats.

I always say that the one thing better than doing is teaching. I love sharing my passion for wind and water sports with others and seeing the joy it gives them. Or meeting someone who loved sailing in their younger years but hadn't dreamed owning a sailboat because they didn't have the space ... and seeing their eyes light up when they see that portable and inflatable sailboats are a reality. I'm very fortunate and blessed to be able to do something for a living that gives people so much enjoyment.
I recently had a gentleman call me who was interested in getting into sailing and had never done it before. We went over the characteristics and differences between catamarans and monohulls and he decided the Tiwal was right for him. So I delivered him his new boat and spent an hour or two showing him how to rig on sail her on the lawn of his cottage. Unfortunately we didn't get to go sailing that day but I couldn't wait to hear his comments after he had a few sessions. The other day I was lucky enough to receive this from him:
Many thanks for all the advice both pre- and post purchase on the Tiwal. I've been sailing it at every opportunity I get. It's incredibly fun and I was sailing within 3 hours without any previous training or experience other than your primer and our correspondence.
Your customer support is phenomenal in a time where it's all too common for a retailer to "disappear" following a sale. I very much appreciated you making yourself available to answer my many questions and to provide advice.
The boat is awesome and beyond convenient. My initial concerns about price have evaporated after seeing the quality and precision workmanship on it. This thing is a beast and is going to last me a long time... It will probably get passed down to the girls once they are a bit older. They love sailing with me and are learning to help me set it up and sail.
Thanks again for the recommendation. I'm super happy with it!
I've got to say this note made my day. I couldn't feel happier about this feedback and knowing that Dan and the girls will get many years of enjoyment form Sailing. Sailing has declined over the years but is making a resurgence as people realize how amazing a sport and activity it is. I feel sailing should be on everyone's bucket list and I'm glad to have another happy customer and friend.
If you'd like to experience the joy of sailing for the first time or rekindle the old flame for wind and waves, then please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll make sure you get VIP customer service and a boat you will be happy with for years to come. It's not to late to end the summer with a bang!
We haven't had a chance to update our product list in a while but we wanted to officially let everyone know that we carry Torqeedo. Torqeedo makes the best electric boat motors in the world. Designed and built in Germany they have famously revolutionized the world of boating like Elon Musk and Tesla have revolutionized the automobile.
If you've ever been stuck when the wind dies, or you've had a calamity like a shroud breaking and a dismasting, then you know as small paddle isn't going to be much help, especially if the wind is blowing hard. While it is the law to carry a paddle, the sad fact is they are not very adequate to propel you back to shore. What all sailors should have is a back up motor.
If you enjoy training in heavy winds and you dont have a support boat then you can be in serious trouble if something should go wrong. Every sailor has at least one nightmare story in their archive and I am no different. All of our catamarans come with optional motor mounts and I highly recommend a backup motor. They will not interfere with your sailing enjoyment and provide a critical backup safety system. And when there is no wind you can still enjoy being on the water.
Torqeedo is an amazing product that has revolutionized boating. Gone are days of the smell, noise and hassle of gas fumes and pulling a cord to start a motor. We welcome this new era in aquatic and proud to be one of the few places to get Torqeedo in Canada. Stay tuned as we update product listings but in the meantime do not hesitate to contact us for your Torqeedo needs.
We just wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to our new XCAT customer and thank him for his patience ... XCAT's are in high demand and are possibly the hottest day sailor on the planet right now so it took a little longer to get one than normal due to the incredible demand. But the factory has now ramped up additional production so shipping times should be back on target.
He was able to set it up no problem out of the box and although there was no wind that day he did get to try out the Row Vista system and his initial impression was that it was "extremely fast and enjoyable".
And for those who are interested, It's still not too late to get your XCAT in time for the 2017 season...
